Maw sit sit:  Funny name, gorgeous stone. Maw sit sit, is a rare stone from Burma (Myanmar) which is comprised of many elements including jadeite. It is actually found with jadeite, in the mines. I've never worked with one before today. It is really hard, which isn't surprising since it does have jadeite in it. The superb green of this stone is produced by the chromium in it. Chrome is the key ingredient of many beautiful colored stones, but few are as beautiful as the vibrant green found in this stone. It is a bright emerald green. My husband says that looking at it, looks like you're looking down on top of the rain forest canopy of the Amazon. I have to agree. As brilliant as the green is, it is made that much more green by the mottled black contrast.

Is that not stunning!! I love the look of the green material, it looks like parrot down. I'm so glad that I finally broke down and got one of these. Now, I know what all the hoopla is about. This is my new favorite green stone.

When I sat down to do the setting, I forgot one important thing- to put the bail on before I put it all together, therefore, it has the bail you see. It didn't work out too bad, though. But, I tell ya, I almost cried when I realized what I did!

  3. Tela, I have never seen this beauty before. The richness of the color is incredible. The description of looking down on the rain forest is perfect!
You did a great save with the bailon this beautiful wrap . Argentium is the ideal compliment to the green. This could be my new favorite green.
