Earrings and Such

I'm rotten, I know. I have neglected my blog. But, in my defense, I have been super busy.

What have I been doing? Well..... I know I have stated my dislike for Etsy, but.... well.... I opened an Etsy shop. LOL! Yes, I broke down and did it. I understand it much more now and now I don't dislike it as much. I, also, understand now what Treasuries are and all the rest of the social networking that goes on there. (Today, I had items in 5 treasuries!) I'm no Luddite, I was just being dumb and stubborn.

Etsy has been taking up a lot of my time. I'm proud to say I have 68 items listed so far. It wasn't simply a matter of cut and paste, either. A lot had to be redone. Including a lot of photos. I'm still working on redoing a lot of photos.

Etsy has already made me a happy camper, well sort of, because although I'm glad Mr. Owl is going to a new home, I will surely miss him.

Other than working on Etsy, I managed to shanghai my old mannequin from tacky daughter (Did I say that? LOL!) Now, she (the mannequin) has a small tshirt on and sits in the corner of the room nagging me to death. I'll be cloning her soon. A little late, but anything to shut her up!

I had my second day at the cabbing machine and managed to do a real technical shape called "tie blowing in the wind". Yes, that's what it has been dubbed. I don't have a photo of it yet, though.

I DO have some photos of some rough slabs I won on eBay. Susan and Randy gave me a bunch, too, so I'll have plenty of playtime at the machine. When I get my machine, -which is my biggest reason for being on Etsy- (see how things are connected?) I plan to show you rough and then the selection to cab and then the final project. For my own self, I think it will be interesting. So, here's some slabs that I got some deals on. (I haven't gotten pictures of all the slabs that were generously given to me. But, I will in time. Some are new to me, so they are interesting in their own right.)

One of my favs- Bruneau Jasper

Another fav- Ocean Jasper

Always lovely Rhodochrosite- this is a rare stalactite- don't know that I will cut it, yet.

Sonora Sunrise- you may remember the bogus stuff I got

And, since this is a jewelry blog and since it's pretty rare that I post earrings, here's some earrings I made just for Etsy. I'm trying to use up my stash of the good stuff, so I can buy more :).

Super Gemmy Ortiz Rhodochrosite and African Amethyst Sterling Silver Earrings
Faceted Sleeping Beauty Turquoise with pearls and crystal spacers.

Lapis and Blue Lace agate sterling silver earrings
Kuku shell, Swarovski and sterling silver
Carved coral, carnelian and fire opal with sterling silver
Once I let go of my dislike for making earrings, these were actually fun, and I think they turned out pretty, too.

A dear friend has told me that I do too much and I need to take a break. I did that, too. :) And, she was right, I needed to chill. I had some quality down time with the family. I will be slowing down a little more, too, that should give me more time to blog about all these things that take up all my time.

Well, I think I'm all caught up now. I hope I didn't bore you and bombard you with too much. I found the time to sit and do this and it all seemed to pour out. :)

PS- In case anyone is wondering... I still haven't gotten a new purse, but someone did email me asking if I would sell my old purse. But, of course, I'm saving for my cabbing machine! :)

  1. Love the rhodochrosite and the fan shaped earrings!
I keep my fingers crossed that this is now your final shop (for a while at least), and successful enough to help get your very own cabbing machine! And the according stones, of course... ;-)

  2. Good luck with your Etsy. Your work is so beautiful and unique, how could it not be featured!

  3. Thank you Renate, I have ordered my machine. I am so happy!!! And I have had 2 etsy sales already. :)

  4. Zoraida, Thank you!! It was really fun being featured. It made me feel less invisible on such a huge site. :)
