Yes, I'm Still Here :)

Wow! It has been so long since I posted!!! Time just slips away. But, I am here and still doing jewelry related things.

After much thought, I decided to get my own website. Look in your address bar. You see THAT"S ME! YAY!!! It took me an entire day to do that.- well a little more because I had to wait for tech support. My blog now points to a subdomain on my TelaFormosa domain.

That wasn't the only thing that took forever. I'm learning as I go, so everything is taking longer than it should. If it weren't for Laura aka CookonStrike, I wouldn't be nearly as far along as I am. She has been a world of help!

I had a website by a different name back in the olden days, you know, way back in the naughts. Things were MUCH different then and what I remember of it does me no good, at all. There is something very satisfying about having your own little piece of the web- A piece you have absolute control over. Despite the work, I'm really happy to have my own domain.

I haven't been doing much in the way of making jewelry. I've done a few pieces, but nothing to write home about. Monday, however, I intend to do some wrapping. I have a whole box of rocks from a cabber to go through and pick some to keep and some to wrap for her. We're both very happy with the arrangement. It's exciting to get a box of rocks in the mail. It's like Christmas going through all the little treasures. One, in particular, is really calling my name and I can't wait to get the tools out.

That will be my brief time out for wrapping and then back to the website. I pretty much have the layout down except for some tweaks. Now, I am loading up my store. I will be doing something new, though. I think I will sell some gems and cabs that I know I'll never use. Just because they don't talk to me doesn't mean they won't talk to someone else. But, they will have to go to the back of the line to be photographed. The camera has a very long cue because I have decided to reshoot a lot of pieces as I go. So, you see why this has been so all consuming.

Before too long, I'll be back to my regular routine. Be well and be happy :)

Revisit and Revamp

Well, my muse slipped completely. Rather than screaming for the nearest corner where I might sit and pull my lip- I just went back to finish some older projects. I'm nice and calm.

I also attempted to make some earrings. I say attempt because I couldn't manage much more than a few beads on a wire.

I made a BIG necklace, too. It occurred to me, with the force of a shiny ball peen hammer, that I have a LOT of beads that I never use. I attempted to use some up on quickie earrings and that BIG necklace.

The original:  The pendant was joined to the chain with a beaten copper triangle. It never really hung right.

The 2 above are the new piece. I removed the triangle and replaced it with a big, lime green, aluminum ring. It goes perfectly with the pearls and the flash of the spectrolite.

You might remember this pendant from the speedbrite test. I decided to remove part of the swirl at the bottom and give it a patina. This, like the previous spectrolite, is very bright- they always amaze me.

The next imperial jasper pendant had some beads on it that I wasn't crazy about. I took apart a different necklace (a leopardskin jasper) and used those beads for this. I like.

And here is that big necklace. This was made purely to use up some big beads. Don't know what I'll do with it... I made this with Spring in mind before the weather turned chilly again.

Rhodonite and various stone beads natural and dyed with sterling -22 inches.
And, here is one pair of earrings that I did. I really don't like photographing earrings, so I only got these done. Maybe I'll, at least, get the carved coral earrings photographed for another day.

Big natural MOP and Swarovski crystals with copper

And, that's it. I've just been puttering. Got some new stones today that inspired me, so maybe my muse with be tickled. :)

Do you think the aluminum jumpring on the green/gold spec piece will hold up?? I have never used a big aluminum jump ring like that before and I don't know how easy it will be to scratch up the color.
