Catching Up

I'm back and doing a guest post on my own blog!

I miss it here. Well, I miss my readers here, not the platform. In case you missed it, here is the announcement and an easy way to stay current on the new and improved blog.

As soon as I get enough newsletter subscribers, I'll begin a bi weekly round up of what's going on. I'll offer coupons and do some other fun things, too. I don't want to import the 200 odd emails I have from my old newsletter. I think it would be rude after all of this time. Not a very good pitchman am I? I'm told that it would be the smart thing to do, but the polite Southern Girl in me won't do it.

Since I'm not ready for the newsletter, yet. I'll give you a run down of some of the things I have been doing that you can read about on my new blog.

A Montana agate screamed for tiny prongs. My husband came to the rescue with a nice tool tweak for prongs!

The next post introduced a beautiful bunch of recently created cabochons. A lot of them sold already.

Recently, I was really excited to meet a fellow rock lover who also loves jewelry. I think we made a good team.

After acquiring a box of small thunder eggs and because of the unusual name, I decided to look into just what these thunder eggs are.

My most recent post caught Cat in the act of trying to sabotage my new hidden bail pendant.

If any of these teasers sent you to my other blog to have look, consider subscribing and signing up for the newsletter, as well.

I'll try to keep this blog updated before I make a full transition to the new and improved one.

I Have a New Blog!

Hello readers! I am really excited to announce that I have started a new blog. I have been unhappy with the aged Blogger platform for a long time. With my new website, came a new blog platform. I have already posted 4 new posts that I hope that you will enjoy. :)

The new platform is mobile friendly. I can design each page the way I see fit. I have really struggled with using images on Blogger. Perhaps it is just my old template? I don't know. But, I have been doing this 2011 and I don't want to restart it from scratch with a new template. The newer blogging platform is beautiful, user friendly, it resides on my website and it is more versatile. I don't need to rely on Google, either, which is very nice. If you don't use Blogger, you probably don't know what a headache it is to use tables and keep the code clean without any goofy, unintended breaks.

The new blog content will remain the same. I will write about what I love- jewelry, rocks and family. The tone remains the same. I plan to be blogging more often. I hope to be bringing content that is inspiring, educational and simply fun to read.

Here's the trade off- in order to stay up to date with my new blog you can use the Atom RSS feed. I realize that a lot of you probably don't have an RSS reader. If you are like me, you don't even know what it is. Well, I did some checking and found an easier way to stay updated with the latest post. It involves a tiny bit of work on your end.

1)  Go to https://ifttt.com/applets/147561p-rss-feed-to-email This is a very old and reliable free feed fetcher that delivers to your inbox.

2) Click "Turn On"

3)  Join free with the email address where you would like the blog notification to go to.

4)  It will ask for permission to send you email. Say OK.

5)  There will be 2 lines to fill in. Copy and paste my blog feed RSS URL:

 http://www.telaformosa.com/blog.atom
Fill in both fields. (MAKE SURE YOU COPY OVER WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE FIELDS!)

6) Click Save.

You are done. You can log out. Now you will get an email when a new post goes live. You won't have to be logged in to get it. The link that will be emailed to you for my post will be a short url.

Not too much trouble. Now that you have an account, I urge you to explore what they offer. I know you'll find something cool and/or useful.

When you visit my new blog, you can use the friendly, modern comments system- Disqus. You do not need to be a member. It has a few more bells and whistles. If you comment anonymously and you want me to know who you are, be sure to leave your first name. I - as always - enjoy your comments immensely and love to hear from you. :)

That's it. I hope to see you over in my new adventure.

Cabbing Season Again

I want to share with you some of the cabs that I recently cut. These are light tent pictures meant to show the character of the stone. It doesn't show the polish well, but they all are as polished as the stone will allow.

Rhodochrosite Argentina one of my favs. This is big and beautiful!

Spiderweb Rhodonite

Turkish Stick Agate

McDermitt Thunderegg Moss Agate

Sonora Plume Agate

Crazy Lace Agate

Imperial Jasper -This is phenomenal in person.

Very cool Kambaba (STROMATOLITE )

Crazy Lace

Agua Nueva Agate

Big Horn Jasper with Druzy Vugs- A new stone for me. I like it!

Stunning Bloodstone

Ringstone of Chalcedony Pink Limbcast Petrified Wood
Pietersite Freeform

Hell's Canyon Petrified Sequoia

I'll be selling some of these as soon as I can get some daylight pictures. A couple are destined for jewelry. That bloodstone is going make a killer pendant. You just don't see much that is that good anymore. The bloody spots are very bright.

I love this time of year when I can get more cabbing done.

UPDATE on Cat- He is doing better after a couple days set back. We had to take him back to the vet because he was having a lot of trouble peeing. He was just sore though and not blocked. He is loving all the attention and special treatment he's getting.  :)
